National Poetry Month: A Reading with Poet Fred Shaw

April 8, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall to celebrate poetry all April long!

Tonight we welcome poet Fred Shaw. A Carnegie native, Fred Shaw teaches writing and literature at Point Park University and Carlow University. His poem “Scraping Away” was selected for the PA Public Poetry Project in 2017. He will share poems from his 2020 collection Scraping Away.

“Fred Shaw’s poems hold no punches. They shine with blood and sweat, and in their honesty and love for the world they depict, the poems of “Scraping Away” burst from the page like ‘something alive and escaped.'” – Kristofer Collins, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
