Love, loyalty, and deception collide in the shadow of the Tower of London. Colonel Fairfax, a nobleman wrongly sentenced to death, hatches a daring last-minute scheme to keep his fortune out of his scheming cousin’s hands. His plan pulls in Elsie Maynard, a spirited traveling singer, along with the Tower’s colorful residents, setting off a whirl of disguises, mistaken identities, and tangled romances.
Premiered at London’s Savoy Theatre in 1888, Yeomen was Gilbert & Sullivan’s eleventh collaboration and is often considered their most heartfelt. It has all the wit and unforgettable melodies audiences love, but as the laughter gives way to real tenderness and heartbreak, it becomes something rarer: a story about honor, sacrifice, and the unpredictable nature of love. Don’t miss the Savoyards’ take on one of the most distinctive works in the G&S canon, live in the Music Hall this October.
