Carnegie Carnegie Studio Jazz Series – Afro-Caribbean Jazz with Steel City Calypso & Chantal Joseph

The Carnegie Carnegie Studio Jazz Series brings outstanding jazz artists to the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall’s Studio for up close performances in a relaxed, welcoming setting. From classic swing and soul infused jazz to modern grooves and adventurous ensembles, the series highlights the breadth of the jazz tradition while keeping the experience personal, intimate, and accessible.

Chantal Joseph is a dynamic vocalist whose performances are known for their intensity, emotional range, and commanding stage presence, with a high energy approach rooted in classic soul and jazz while firmly grounded in the present. Steel City Calypso has spent more than 20 years turning rooms into block parties, weaving traditional Trinidadian calypso with music from across the Caribbean and Brazil, plus generous doses of American funk and jazz.

Together they lean into the Afro-Caribbean side of Chantal’s range, a pairing that has already sold out rooms in Pittsburgh at Con Alma and Alphabet City.
