Do you remember Sophie Masloff?  Do you miss her?  Even if you never knew her, you might enjoy getting to know about the incomparable Mayor Masloff with author, Dr. Barbara Burstin. Sophie Masloff became the first woman and the first Jewish mayor of Pittsburgh in 1988, upon the untimely death of the popular Mayor, Dick Caliguiri.  Often dismissed and belittled, the feisty senior citizen showed her toughness when she won a four-year term as mayor in her own right. It wasn’t easy, but she kept Pittsburgh moving forward during difficult economic times.
Please join us as Dr. Barbara Burstin discusses her 2019 biography which takes a look at the life of Sophie Masloff – her triumphs and her tribulations.
