Comedies of the 1930s: “It Happened One Night”

Join the Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club for “Comedies of the 1930s,” a special four-part series celebrating some of history’s funniest flicks!
Tonight: “It Happened One Night” (1934), directed by Frank Capra. When headstrong socialite Ellie Andrews (Claudette Colbert) winds up stranded with newspaper reporter Peter Warne (Clark Gable), the stage is set for ridiculous hijinks and maybe a bit of romance. This classic comedy claimed five Oscars at the 1934 Academy Awards, including Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress.
