Bilingual Storytime, with Award-Winning Author Taghreed Najjar

October 22 @ 4:30 pm 5:00 pm

Join Attawheed Islamic Center, Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall, and Crafton Public Library in welcoming award-winning Palestinian-Jordanian author Taghreed Najjar as she reads from her book The Ghoul, which was selected for Chicago Public Library’s “Best of the Best” books of 2020.

In a starred review, Kirkus Reviews calls it “a stimulating and funny fantasy about acceptance… Inspired by Arab folklore, the story revolves around life in a quiet and peaceful village somewhere in Arabia, where the only thing disturbing the surrounding peace is the ghoul living up in the mountains – a monster everyone dreads and fears. …Perplexed by the idea of a monster that nobody has seen or heard, Hasan decides to defy his parents and investigate himself.”
