In this meeting, we’ll discuss three-time National Book Award finalist Steve Sheinkin’s 2017 book Undefeated: Jim Thorpe and the Carlisle Indian School Football Team. This quick read explores the experiences of indigenous children forced to “assimilate” in institutions like the Carlisle Indian School, and follows the school football team that launched the legendary Jim Thorpe’s career.
