Following her imprisonment\, she wrote a memoir about it in hopes of gaining support for the Confederacy. Now\, fully edited and annotated\, this memoir offers new insight into wartime Washington. Discover who Rose knew and the role she played. \n\n\n\nEmily Lapisardi has studied Rose Greenhow for over twenty years. a musicologist and musician\, she currently serves as Director of Musical Activities for the Catholic Chapel at the United States Military Academy (West Point\, NY). She holds degrees from Duquesne University and West Virginia University.\, where she received the J. and C. Nath award for research and was the university’s nominee for the Rhodes and Marshall scholarships. She has portrayed Greenhow for museums\, historical societies\, roundtables\, and educational institutions throughout the United States\, including the International Spy Museum\, several National Park Service sites\, the Surratt Society\, and book launch events for Ann Blackman’s biography Wild Rose. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n2nd Saturday Lectures made possible by the Massey Charitable Trust

DESCRIPTION:In Person in the Lincoln Gallery at ACFL&MH \n\n\n\nFacebook: www.facebook.com/CarnegieCarnegie No Account Required! \n\n\n\nZoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9370579279 Meeting ID: 937 057 9279 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin retired health care professionals and Gettysburg Licensed Battlefield Guides Richard Schroeder M.D. and Francis Feyock\, C.R.N.A. for a presentation and discussion of Civil War surgery and anesthesia entitled “The Battle for Another Tomorrow”.  Discussion will include common diseases\, battle wounds\, triage systems\, period surgery and anesthesia\, and outcomes of treatment.  Comparisons will be made between care in 1861-1865 and modern times.  \n\n\n\nA discussion period will be entertained to discuss individual wounds of well-known Civil War personalities as well as other topics. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRichard (Rick) Schroeder became a Licensed Battlefield Guide (LBG) in July\, 2016. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame in 1977. He graduated from Northwestern University Medical School with High Honors in 1981. He is both a Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honor society member. He completed a five-year orthopedic surgery residency at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis\, Indiana in 1986. He completed two post-residency fellowships; one in knee surgery at Medical City Hospital in Dallas\, Texas\, and the second in orthopedic trauma surgery at Shock Trauma in Baltimore\, Maryland. Rick was the Director of Orthopedic Trauma at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center’s Level 1 Trauma Center in Johnstown\, Pennsylvania for 33 years. His orthopedic practice centered on complex fracture and reconstruction.Rick’s interests include Medical Care in the Civil War and he provides specialty tours of Medical Care at the Gettysburg Battlefield. \n\n\n\n“Fran” is a Retired C.R.N.A (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist)\, has both an UndergraduateDegree in Health Care and Business\, and a Masters Degree in Strategic Leadership and Organizational Change.Fran was both a clinical practicing C.R.N.A. and the Executive Director of the Surgical Service Lineat DLP Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center\, Johnstown\, Pennsylvania retiring in June of 2018. Hisresponsibilities included a 54 million dollar budget\, over 500 employees\, and working with over 80surgeons and surgical specialists.Currently: Fran is the owner of 763 Leadership Group\, Adjunct Faculty for The Lincoln LeadershipInstitute at Gettysburg\, and a Licensed Battlefield Guide at the Gettysburg National Military Park. He is an active member of Toastmasters International.Fran is a Certified Myers-Briggs and TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer. Additionally he holds certifications as a Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt and holds current ACLS\, PALS\, and BLS cards. More important than the organizational titles\, education\, and other certificates he has achievedin his career\, the professional titles that make him the proudest include those of mentor\, coach\, andmotivator. Even when he has struggled in his career Fran says\, “I always find a way…..to rise\, reset\, and revise my trajectory.”Fran lives in State College\, Pennsylvania with his wife Christina\, an Assistant Athletic Director forIntercollegiate Athletics: Human Resources at The Pennsylvania State University. He owns the title of“Dad” to three children\, “Pap Feyock” to six grandchildren\, and one 18-pound Caviler King CharlesSpaniel\, named Lizzy\, who permits him to participate in her life.He spends his time researching Civil War History\, coordinating a weekly virtual GettysburgProgram and leading battlefield tours. These tours include those for individuals\, groups\, buses\, andadvanced organizational Leadership Courses using the lessons from Gettysburg.
