SUMMARY:2nd Saturday Civil War Series: Discovering\, Preserving\, and Sharing the Stories of our Civil War Past
DESCRIPTION:In Person in the Lincoln Gallery at ACFL&MH \n\n\n\nZoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9370579279Meeting ID: 937 057 9279 \n\n\n\nMore than 160 years after the American Civil War\, remarkable stories remain hidden in historical records\, forgotten artifacts\, and familiar places. Join Vincent Page and Alex Pruszenski of So Nobly Advanced as they introduce their ongoing initiative to uncover\, research\, preserve\, and share these stories. Through two featured investigations—the life of Civil War veteran Enoch P. Holland\, a member of Carnegie’s Captain Thomas Espy Post No. 153\, and the intriguing story of the Teachers’ Cannon—they will explore how historical curiosity can lead to unexpected discoveries. Attendees will get a behind-the-scenes look at the research process\, including the use of primary sources\, archival records\, and modern digital tools\, along with a preview of an interactive historical web application. Discover how So Nobly Advanced is bringing overlooked history to life and demonstrating that\, even after more than a century and a half\, there are still stories waiting to be told. \n\n\n\nVincent Page is the founder of So Nobly Advanced\, a historical research and storytelling initiative dedicated to preserving and sharing overlooked stories of America’s Civil War era. Drawing on his background in information technology and product management\, Vince combines archival research\, digital preservation\, and interactive technology to make history more accessible and engaging. His interests center on the Battle of Gettysburg\, Civil War education\, and local history. Through So Nobly Advanced\, Vince seeks to transform historical evidence into compelling narratives and educational resources that deepen understanding\, inspire curiosity\, and preserve the past for future generations. \n\n\n\nAlex Pruszenski is a co-founder of So Nobly Advanced and an educator with fourteen years of teaching experience. He brings an educator’s perspective to historical research\, emphasizing thoughtful interpretation\, compelling storytelling\, and the use of technology to make history accessible and engaging. His work explores the connections between local communities and the broader American experience\, combining archival research with narrative storytelling and interactive resources. His article The Pennsylvania Teachers’ Cannon and its interactive companion exemplify this approach. Through So Nobly Advanced\, Alex seeks to uncover overlooked stories\, illuminate the people behind historical events\, and encourage a deeper appreciation of the American experiment.
