SUMMARY:Fly Us to the Moon
DESCRIPTION:Benny Benack III\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall’s last annual benefit before closing the Hall for ambitious renovations. Who better than Benny\, his trio and you to take the Library & Music Hall on its final journey to a beautifully restored Carnegie Carnegie Hall?NYC-based Benny Benack III is a third generation Pittsburgh Jazzman. Following in the footsteps of his trumpeter/bandleader grandfather and saxophonist/clarinetist father\, “BB3” is his own brand of fiery trumpet player\, smooth vocalist and showman extraordinaire. Chart-topping vocalist\, Michael Stephenson\, is a soulful complement to BB3’s signature style. Benny will serve up an evening of standards à la Sinatra\, interspersed with the improvisational/free jazz styles of Thelonious Monk and Ornette Coleman — leavened with a dollop of “pure Pittsburgh.” This night of memorable music will be followed by a lively after-theater party throughout the ACFL&MH’s beautiful historic landmark facility that — weather permitting — will spill out into our fabulous new Library Park. \n\n\n\nFly Us to the Moon Event CommitteeCheryl & Phil Boyd\, Co-ChairsMary & Vashistha BhaskarRachel Enck & Evan Welsh Vanessa Klapper Lee & Terry LeeLisa Moretti & Joey WaslouskyGail NeustadtStella Sienicki SzafranskiBetsy & Tom TetiJoEllen & Alan Yeasted\, MD \n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\n\nReserved Orchestra Seating: $125 ($80 is tax-deductible)Open Balcony Seating: $75 ($30 is tax-deductible) \n\n\n\nOnsite parking is available on a first-come\, first-served basis. SUMMARY:Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra presents Beethoven In Your Neighborhood: String Quartet No. 16 in F Major\, Opus 135
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra invites you to experience the musical genius of Ludwig van Beethoven through a free concert series! “Beethoven In Your Neighborhood: The Library Project” is a groundbreaking effort that features Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra musicians performing each of Beethoven’s 16 string quartets at nine Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh branches and six other county libraries funded by Andrew Carnegie. \n\n\n\nThis final concert of the series takes place at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall\, one of only four libraries in the country that Carnegie endowed. We celebrate the conclusion of the series with Beethoven’s final quartet\, No. 16 in F Major\, written in the Viennese countryside during the last months of his life and bearing Beethoven’s signature farewell: “Must it be? It must be!” \n\n\n\n“Ludwig van Beethoven and Andrew Carnegie each changed the human experience in revolutionary ways. The Pittsburgh Symphony is thrilled to partner with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh\, Allegheny County Library Association and MuseumLab for this deep community engagement of music and community spaces that are each as relevant and influential today as when they were created\,” said Melia Tourangeau\, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. \n\n\n\nReservations: Advance reservations for The Library Project concerts are open to the public at www.pittsburghsymphony.org/BIYN. While reservations are suggested\, they are not required to attend these performances. \n\n\n\nThis event will be held in our downstairs Studio.
